Our modules and collaboration tools are being used by healthcare professionals in more than 1,300 Universities and Colleges and approximately 600 Hospitals, Associations and Organizations around the world.
HospitalsHospitals are continuously being challenged to meet the increased demand of their patients, while at the same time trying to manage a shrinking resource base. Reduced staff, old or missing equipment, outdated communication technology; all contribute in making it difficult for the hospital to achieve its goals. To help meet these challenges, some hospitals have taken on a new approach to increase their overall effectiveness as a healthcare provider and that is through the use of an online collaborative network. LinkingHealthProfessionals has provided hospitals with the means to collaborate and communicate online about such important issues as patient safety. Toronto based St. Michael's Hospital has created a community learning environment for employees (nurses, physicians, administrators, etc.) in the area of patient safety. Here members can discuss relevant issues and access learning modules developed by hospital staff. Using a combination of community and mentorship tools, hospitals have been able to increase the effectiveness of their mentorship programs while promoting teambuilding. The community environment provides new staff with the opportunity to learn from their colleagues and to quickly adapt to their new workplace. Hospitals are also using LinkingHealthProfessionals to manage their electives programs for medical students. The Healthcare Electives module provides the hospital with the tools required to manage student elective records from beginning to end. This module eliminates inefficiencies in collecting information and centralizes where elective data is recorded. Healthcare Organizations/AssociationsMany healthcare organizations have undertaken a fresh approach with respect to communicating with their staff and that is to get them actively involved in the communication process from the beginning. The Centre for Excellence in Emergency Preparedness (CEEP) identified the necessity of a web-enabled communication and information system that would help them achieve their mission of maintaining optimal Canadian health emergency preparedness. Using the Community module, CEEP has engaged its members in active communication through discussion forums, private messaging, news and posting boards. The Social Work in Hospice and Palliative Care Network (SWHPN), the first national organization in the United States to bring together social work agencies and professionals to increase the quality of life in hospice, palliative and end-of-life care, has adopted LinkingHealthProfessionals to help in connecting its members. In the SWHPN community, a venue is provided where the members can collaborate with each other across North America through the click of the mouse. Members actively use discussion forums, events calendars and repositories to access and share information which all contributes to helping them achieve their end goal of improving end-of-life care. The Centre of Health Professionals Educated Abroad (CEHPEA) is a not-for-profit organization in Ontario that provides assessment, evaluation and training programs for internationally educated health professionals. CEHPEA uses the Conference Management module to manage registrations for symposiums. They have provided symposium attendees with a user-friendly registration portal and CEHPEA staff is able to track registration and payments effortlessly.
